1st place in the project competition of the Fondazione da Mihi, Bern (CH), 2015
The Nature of Packaging links the plastic packaging overproduction of the global goods market with the production of high-priced art objects for the global art market. The project began with the collection of the initial objects: emptied, useless composite beverage cartons, which were then transformed into art: By reversing and inverting its interior to the outside, the geometric cartons are transformed into peculiar, essential structures. The packaging is then photographed in changing poses and finally thrown back into the city space in a public performance from the balcony of the gallery. Finally, the transformed objects are collected there and sent for recycling. In the gallery space, they remain only as media traces which can be re-materialized if desired: the individual motifs can be called up from a digital archive and purchased on demand as fine art prints.
